You wear each set of Invisalign aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist or dentist has prescribed.
You'll visit your orthodontist about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

For anyone who is already using Invisalign aligners:

1. Always wash your hands with soap and water before handling your Invisalign aligners.
2. Handle only ONE aligner at a time.
3. Make sure you have the proper aligner - the upper for the top teeth and the lower for the bottom teeth.
4. To help avoid confusion, each Invisalign aligner is engraved with your initials and a "U" for upper or an "L" for lower.
5. Insert the lower aligner first, then the upper.
6. When inserting, gently push the aligners over your front teeth. Then apply equal pressure, using your fingertips, to the tops of your left and right molars until the Invisalign aligner snaps into place.
7. Do not bite your Invisalign aligners into position. This may damage them.
8. Remove the aligners by using equal downward pressure on the left and right side of the aligner and lift it off your rear molars.
9. Using your fingers, gently lift the aligner off your front teeth.
10. Immediately rinse and store your aligner in the protective case provided with your starter kit.
11. To help prevent damage, avoid unnecessary removal.
12. DO NOT use any sharp object to remove your Invisalign aligners.
13. Clean your Invisalign aligners prior to each insertion.
14. Rinse well after each cleaning.
15. DO NOT use denture cleaners to clean Invisalign aligners or soak them in mouthwash. These products can damage the surface of the plastic, causing it to become dull - and more visible.
16. Always remove your Invisalign aligners before meals.
17. Brush your teeth after each meal and prior to re-inserting your Invisalign aligners.
18. Brush and floss according to your usual routine.
19. Regular check-ups and cleaning are recommended for the continued health of your teeth and gums.

Two Invisalign aligners are included in your starter kit. Store your aligners in a case when not in your mouth. This will protect them from potential damage.
Designate one of your Invisalign cases as case #1. Store the aligners your are currently using in this case. When it is time to switch up to the next stage (i.e. #2), store the old aligners in your second Invisalign case. Always keep the most recently used Invisalign aligners in this case.
If an aligner is lost or broken, your doctor may recommend that you temporarily go back one stage and use the Aligners in the other case while a replacement is being made.
Please note that it is only necessary to store the most recently used set of Invisalign aligners. When it is time to switch stages again (i.e. move up to #3), discard the oldest aligners (i.e. #1) and store the most recently used set (i.e. #2).
